Two certainties in life – Death and Taxes but only one is talked about!

Smorgasbord - Variety is the spice of life

The topic for the post was prompted by an article I read in the Daily Mail Online this morning.  And whilst I know that you are used to me being a ray of sunshine, I felt that you would not mind me talking about a subject I feel quite strongly about.

Apparently or allegedly, if you want to quote anything in the media these days, district nurses visiting old people’s care homes are asking residents to complete a very lengthy questionnaire and one of the topics brought up is the establishment of a DNR (Do not resuscitate when the heart stops beating).

In response to the article, I am concerned on a number of levels, not least that the question regarding the DNR, but also asking vulnerable and possibly confused elderly people for information on their medical issues and I would assume personal circumstances. The older the person being…
